We stay in the historic county of Hampshire and explore the seafaring history of the area from the D-day landings to the unique invention of the Hovercraft which still plies between Southsea and Ryde. Other excursions include a trip to the cathedral city of Chichester and enjoy an amazing view from the Spinnaker Tower.
Day 1
We depart this morning and travel through the English countryside with a lunch stop on the way, we arrive at our hotel in time to settle in before our evening meal.
DDay 2
This morning after breakfast we join our coach and meet our local guide for the day who will bring to life some of the world famous local history, including a visit to the D-day Museum well tells the moving story of the Liberation in Europe. Afterwards we travel to the pretty village of Southwick with its own D-Day story to tell, perhaps enjoy lunch in one of its pubs. This afternoon we continue to the fascinating Fort Nelson, a Victorian Fortress overlooking Portsmouth harbour with 19 acres of ramparts and tunnels packed with artillery from across the world. After a day of learning we travel back to our hotel.
B, DDay 3
Today after breakfast we join our coach and travel to Clarence Pier in Southsea where we enjoy a unique travel experience on the world's only year round passenger hovercraft service. Our 11:00 departure will whisk you across the Solent to the charming town of Ryde on the Isle of Wight taking around ten minutes. There will be plenty of time to explore this quaint seaside town at your leisure, perhaps visit its independent shops and cafes, or even the unique Donald McGill Museum containing its "Naughty Postcards"!!. Our coach will meet the returning hovercraft arriving at 15:15 at Southsea before continuing the journey back to the hotel for our evening meal.
B, DDay 4
After breakfast this morning we travel to the nearby city of Chichester where you can visit its famous Cathedral, wander its shopping streets and view the City's Cross. We return to Portsmouth and its Gunwharf Quays where we find the Spinnaker Tower, Here we include a trip up the tower to its viewing platform offering a Bird's eye view of the Solent area. After an interesting day we join our coach for the journey back to the hotel.
B, DDay 5
After breakfast we join our coach for the journey back home with a lunch stop before returning back to your joining point.

Hotel Details - The Solent Hotel, Whiteley Near Fareham
This four star hotel set in a wooded area close to the facilities of Whiteley offers a relaxing stay. The hotel’s facilities include a bar, restaurant and lounge, plus it has an indoor pool, sauna and steam room. The bedrooms are ensuite with hairdryer, television and tea/coffee making facilities and served by a lift, but it does have some ground floor rooms.
