On this holiday we offer a chance to view the spectacular Cairngorms National Park and the beautiful Spey Valley. The highlights include visits to the Highland Folk Museum, a ride on the Strathspey Railway and a tour and tasting at the Dalwhinnie Distillery, plus we hop aboard a Loch Ness cruise keeping your eyes peeled for Nessie!!.

Day 1

We make an early start and join our coach for the journey north through the English countryside to Carlisle for our overnight stop and our evening meal.

Day 2

After breakfast today we re-join our coach and travel further into Scotland enjoying its varied countryside with a lunch stop enroute before arriving at the Balavil Hotel in Newtonmore which will be our base for the next four nights. After settling in the hotel will provide us with a three course dinner.

Day 3

After breakfast today we travel through the countryside to the world famous Loch Ness, where we join our boat for a two hour Contemplation cruise along the Loch. Our journey takes us along Thomas Telford's famous Caledonian Canal and across the legendary waters of Loch Ness. Afterwards there will be some free time in Inverness the cultural capital of the Highlands before rejoining our coach for the journey back to our hotel.

Day 4

Today after breakfast we join our coach for a short journey to The Highland Folk Museum. The museum is located in 80 acres and through restored buildings and actors help bring to life the local Highland history. Afterwards we continue along the Spey valley to Dalwhinnie and its world famous Distillery the highest in Scotland at 1164 feet, where we enjoy a tour and a "Wee Dram". Afterwards we travel back to our hotel in Newtonmore.

Day 5

This morning after breakfast we join our coach for a short journey to our first stop the nearby town of Aviemore. Here we travel on the heritage steam Strathspey Railway travelling across heather covered moorland with the Cairngorm Mountains behind. Afterwards we travel on our coach into the local countryside to the Rothiemurchus Estate a beautiful Highland Estate. During our visit we will meet their resident Highland Cows whilst enjoying a commentary from the ranger. There will be an opportunity to feed the local deer and tour the estate on the coach, later enjoy a falconry display plus time to browse their farm shop.

Day 6

This morning after breakfast we depart from the hotel and begin our journey south through the Scottish Countryside to the English border. After crossing the border we continue to our hotel in Lancaster for our overnight stay and our evening meal.

After our breakfast this morning we say goodbye to our hotel and travel back to your joining point with a lunch stop enroute.

Outbound Overnight Hotel: Gretna Hall, Gretna Green

This three star hotel located just over the Scottish border was originally built as a Manor House and its facilities include a bar and restaurant. The bedrooms are served by a lift and are ensuite with Television, Hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

 

Main Stay Hotel: Balavil Hotel, Newtonmore

This three star hotel is located on the main street in the village of Newtonmore located in the Spey Valley. Its facilities include a lounge, a restaurant and bar plus its leisure facilities include a small indoor swimming pool and sauna. The bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, television and tea/coffee making facilities.

 

Return Overnight Hotel: Holiday Inn, Lancaster

It is a four star hotel located between the motorway and the city centre. Its facilities include a restaurant, bar and lounge area, plus and indoor swimming pool and sauna. Its bedrooms are ensuite with television, hairdryer and hospitality tray served by a lift.
