A day out to the pretty riverside Berkshire town of Windsor, famous for its castle.
Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world.
Established in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, it has been remodelled by successive kings and queens, including Edward III, Charles II and George IV. Today the Castle is used regularly for ceremonial and State occasions and has been the home of 40 monarchs.
Highlights include State Apartment (Ceremonial and Historic Rooms), Queen Marys Dolls House and Moat Room.
Enjoy some time in The Royal Borough of Windsor where there is a wide variety of things to do including shopping or maybe take a boat trip along the River Thames.

There is a lot to see and do at Windsor Castle, so please allow enough time to make the most of your visit. We suggest between 2 & 3 hours.
Coaches cannot set down or pick up passengers at the entrance to Windsor Castle. A short walk takes visitors from the coach park to Windsor & Eton Central Station where there is a lift, followed by a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Castle entrance.
The Castle is at the top of a steep hill, and the visitor route covers long distances. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes.
For safety and security reasons, a one-way system operates along the visitor route inside the Castle.
Photography and filming including; wearable devices are not permitted inside the State Apartments or St George's Chapel.
Neither smoking nor vaping (the use of electronic cigarettes) are permitted anywhere in Windsor Castle.
Security and Luggage
On arrival, you and your belongings will be subject to airport-style security checks. Try to bring as little as possible with you as it will help you to get through security screening more quickly.
Just as at the airport, please remove all metal objects from your pockets before going through the security arch. For efficiency, we advise packing cameras, phones, keys and wallets in your bag before placing the bag through the security scanner.
