Scotland: Ayrshire Coast & Castles

Day 1

We join our coach for the journey north across the border into Scotland and arrive at our hotel in Irvine. Here we are welcomed with tea/coffee and shortbread.

Day 2

After an early breakfast today we travel to Largs where we catch the ferry to the Isle of Great Cumbrae. On our arrival on this small and picturesque island we stop at the capital, Millport. In the afternoon we take the ferry back to the mainland and travel onto the seaside town of Troon with its views, bustling harbour and its golfing connections. Afterwards we continue back to our hotel.

Day 3

After breakfast today we travel by coach to Culzean Castle and Country Park. Here we are met by a costumed guide who will share the secrets of the castle that was once home to the Chieftan of Clan Kennedy. In the afternoon we stop and visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum which consists of Burns Cottage, where the poet was born and showing a collection of his works, the Burns Monument the Auld Kirk and the Brig o' Doon Bridge. After an enjoyable visit make our way back to our hotel in Irvine.

Day 4

This morning after breakfast we travel along the Ayrshire coast to the ferry at Ardrossan. We make the short crossing and on our arrival on the Isle of Arran we travel to Brodick Castle. This red sandstone, baronial style castle is dramatically set overlooking the bay and boasts some impressive gardens. Afterwards there will be time to spend in the town of Brodick itself before we catch the late afternoon ferry back to the mainland, where we continue our journey back to our hotel.

Day 5

This morning after breakfast we say goodbye to our hotel and Scotland and begin our journey back to your joining point, with a stop en route.

The hotel will provide entertainment on two nights during our stay.
