Scarborough & the North Riding of Yorkshire

Enjoy a break to Scarborough a popular seaside resort situated on the edge of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

On this holiday we stay in Scarborough, the popular Yorkshire seaside resort and ideal holiday base to explore the surrounding area.

We include excursions to Goathland which is famous for "Aidensfield" in the television series Heartbeat, plus a ride on the North Yorkshire Railway from Pickering to Goathland.

We also visit the fishing port town of Whitby well know for its Dracula connections and its sea faring history, and travel to the Ryedale Folk Museum.


Day 1

Today we leave from your joining point and travel across the country with a lunch stop enroute before we arrive at Scarborough and our hotel.


Day 2

This morning after breakfast the day is free to explore the town of Scarborough.

Day 3

After breakfast we travel to the town of Pickering where we join our train for the ride through the National Park before getting off at Grosmont Station. Here we rejoin our coach for the journey to Goathland which was made famous as "Aidensfield" in the popular television series Heartbeat. We continue to the town of Whitby for a short break before continuing onto Scarborough and our hotel.

Day 4

This morning after a leisurely breakfast we travel to the Ryedale Folk Museum which traces the history of the area going back 2000 years. After the visit we continue to the town of Thirsk which was home to the legendary vet who wrote under the name of "James Herriot" . His surgery is now open as a visitor centre tracing his life. (Extra cost)

We leave after breakfast this morning and make our journey home arriving back late afternoon.

Hotel Details: The Esplanade Hotel, Scarborough

This three star traditional hotel is situated on the cliffs overlooking South Bay. The beach is about a ten minute walk away and the town centre a further five minutes away. The hotel’s facilities include lounges, dance floor and restaurant which offers sea views.

All the bedrooms are ensuite with television and tea/coffee making facilities and served by a lift.
