This holiday offers to show the glorious history and countryside of this part of England.
On this holiday we show the glorious history and countryside of the North East of England. We experience a full day exploring the unique Hadrians Wall, and visits to historic Bamburgh Castle and to the inspirational Holy Island across the tidal causeway.
Day 1
We depart this morning and travel north through the English countryside to our hotel and the city of Newcastle upon Tyne.
DDay 2
Today after breakfast we are met by our guide for the day, to explore the historic Hadrian's Wall. Our guide will bring to life the fascinating history of Rome's most northerly frontier by visiting the village of Corbridge and the Roman Vindolanda, which is one of the best preserved Roman forts and museums. After a very informative day we travel back to our hotel and our evening meal.
B, DDay 3
After breakfast today we meet our guide who will take us on a half day step-on tour of Newcastle. They will show us how the city has changed from the coal industry to being a cultural hub for the North East of England. The highlights will be castle and cathedral, classic Grainger town with its connections to Earl Grey of tea fame! Also the quayside with all the past and current history. We continue by coach to explore the coastal areas of Tyneside and the seaside town of Tynemouth.
B, DDay 4
This morning after breakfast we make the scenic journey to Belford, before we begin to cross the tidal causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. There will be time to explore and maybe purchase some lunch before rejoining our coach and travelling back to the mainland. Here we continue our journey to Bamburgh and its castle. The Castle is perched on rocks at the edge of the sea offering stunning views of the village, the coastline and the distant Farne Islands. (As the Holy Island Causeway is tidal today's itinerary is subject to change.)
B, DDay 5
We say farewell to the North East and our hotel and travel back to your joining point with a lunch stop en route.
B=Breakfast Included, D =Dinner Included
