Maritime Portsmouth

This tour explores the maritime history of one of Britain's historic ports, plus visits to the South Downs National Park & the city of Winchester.

A NEW tour for 2019 stays in the historic city of Portsmouth with his famous dockyard.

On this holiday we visit the South Downs National Park and stop in Arundel, followed by the Weald & Downland open air museum which houses over 50 reconstructed buildings from the local area. We also enjoy fascinating views of the city of Portsmouth and its harbour from a boat cruise, plus we visit the ancient city of Winchester where the Doomsday book was compiled and author Jane Austin is buried.

Day 1

We join our coach and travel through several counties before we arrive at our hotel in time to settle in before our evening meal.


Day 2

After breakfast we travel through the Sussex countryside to the town of Arundel where we make a short stop. We continue over the Sussex Downs to the Weald & Downland open air museum with its 50 reconstructed buildings. After an enjoyable day we join our coach for the journey back to Portsmouth and our hotel.

Day 3

This morning we make the short journey to meet our boat for the Harbour cruise around the famous dockyard offering views of the city and its ships. Afterwards there will be free time to explore the city, perhaps visit the famous dockyard (Cost extra), visit the Southsea D Day museum (Cost extra) or catch the Hovercraft from Clarence Pier to Ryde on the Isle of Wight (Cost extra).

Day 4

This morning we begin with a drive through the Hampshire countyside tto the city of Winchester, well known for being the capital of England in Saxon times. It is also where the Doomsday book was compiled and Jane Austin is buried here. After a nice day out we return to Portsmouth and our hotel.

We leave this morning and travel across the countyside back to your joining point with a lunch break enroute.

Our four star hotel is situated near to Southsea common, the seafront and Clarence Pier.

The hotel's facilities include a restaurant and bar plus leisure facilities including a swimming pool, Gym and Sauna. 

The Hotel has ramp access to the main entrance/exit.

All its bedrooms are ensuite with television and tea/coffee making facilities and served by a lift.
